The adidas Juventus 2016/17 Third Shirt arrived carrying the weight of the most expensive transfer in Italian football history. Gonzalo Higuaín's signing for €90 million from Napoli became, at the time, the highest ever transfer for an Italian club, and this white third shirt was the one he wore as he set about justifying every cent. The sleeves carry a striking zebra pattern paying homage to the 1990s, when the club's crest was briefly replaced with a zebra, a nod to Juventus's nickname "Le Zebre" that gives the otherwise clean white design a genuine edge. Higuaín won a domestic double in his first season with Juventus, also reaching the 2017 Champions League final, where Juventus were defeated 4-1 by defending champions Real Madrid. The season delivered a Serie A and Coppa Italia double, with Juventus securing their sixth consecutive league title to establish an all-time record of successive triumphs in the competition.
