The adidas Orlando Pirates 2023/24 Home Shirt is the product of one of African football's most compelling creative collaborations: adidas and the Buccaneers partnering with LVMH Prize-winning South African fashion designer Thebe Magugu. Moved by the club's arduous journey to where they stand today, Magugu arrived at the image of a maze or labyrinth, which became the motif he cross-referenced with the iconic skull and crossbones emblem. "This idea of persistence is why I decided to treat the iconic skull logo as a maze, to symbolise the long and winding journey the team has travelled to land them here." On the pitch, the shirt accompanied a season of genuine silverware: Orlando Pirates won big at the 2023/24 PSL Awards, replicating the previous campaign's feat of claiming both the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup crowns, while also qualifying for the CAF Champions League. Striker Tshegofatso Mabasa claimed the PSL Golden Boot with 16 league goals, while midfielder Tito Maswanganyi was named Players' Player of the Season.
