The adidas Juventus 2016/17 Third Shirt arrived carrying the weight of the most expensive transfer in Italian football history. Gonzalo Higuaín's signing for €90 million from Napoli became, at the time, the highest ever transfer for an Italian club , and this white third shirt was the one he wore as he set about justifying every cent. The sleeves carry a striking zebra pattern paying homage to the 1990s, when the club's crest was briefly replaced with a zebra , a nod to Juventus's nickname "Le Zebre" that gives the otherwise clean white design a genuine edge. Higuaín won a domestic double in his first season with Juventus, also reaching the 2017 Champions League final , where Juventus were defeated 4-1 by defending champions Real Madrid . The season delivered a Serie A and Coppa Italia double, with Juventus securing their sixth consecutive league title to establish an all-time record of successive triumphs in the competition.
