New Balance Size Guide

New Balance football shirts usually have a regular athletic fit. Some modern templates can run slightly short in length while larger sizes often become noticeably wider. Kids sizing is normalised to height-based EU sizes and should be treated as an approximate conversion. Measurements are approximate and may vary by club, template, product type and production year.

Please note that sizes from a manufacturer may vary depending on the year. Please select the first year of a season (e.g., 2025/26 = 2025).

How To Measure.

Shirts with the same size label can fit differently. Cut and proportions vary by era, model and purpose.

01

Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal and snug but not tight. Keep your arms relaxed at your sides.

02

Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (where the seam sits) straight down to the bottom hem of the shirt.

03

Order the larger size for a relaxed, comfortable fit. If you prefer a slim fit, go with the smaller size. Contact us if you need specific garment measurements.

Same Label Size. Different Fit.

Shirts with the same size label can fit differently. Cut and proportions vary by era, model and purpose.

Fits can vary between brands, teams, templates and production years. Check the measurements for the specific shirt when available. Asia-market (JASPO) sizes can run smaller than the same size in EU/US sizing.

Vintage / retro shirts

Sizing of vintage shirts may differ from current templates. Older shirts (pre-2010) tend to run larger than modern equivalents. We recommend checking each product's individual fit description on the product page.

Authentic / Match Issue

Authentic shirts (also labelled ADV, Vapor, Evoknit or Aeroready Authentic depending on the manufacturer) are built to the exact specifications worn on the pitch. They use a slim, athletic cut designed for professional players, with body-mapped ventilation zones and bonded seams that sit closer to the body than replica versions. Expect a noticeably tighter fit through the chest and waist. If you prefer a comfortable, everyday fit, we recommend ordering one size up from your usual size. If you train or play regularly and want that second-skin feel, order your standard size.

Player Issue

Player Issue shirts are produced for the squad but are not commercially available. They share the same technical construction as Authentic shirts — identical fabrics, cuts and performance features — but may include additional details such as internal squad labels, competition patches or match-specific printing not found on retail versions. The fit is identical to Authentic: slim and athletic. Size up by one for casual wear.

Goalkeeper

Goalkeeper shirts are cut with additional room through the shoulders, chest and arms to allow for a full range of diving and reaching movement. Padded elbow sections on some models add further volume to the sleeves. As a result, goalkeeper shirts generally fit one size larger than their outfield equivalents. If you want a standard comfortable fit, we recommend ordering your usual size. If you prefer a slimmer look, consider sizing down by one.

Asia Market Issue (JASPO Sizing)

Shirts produced for the Japanese and wider Asian market use JASPO sizing, which runs approximately one full size smaller than European sizing. A JASPO L corresponds roughly to a European M, and a JASPO XL to a European L. Always cross-reference the chest measurements in the size chart rather than relying on the letter size alone. If purchasing a JASPO-sized shirt, we recommend ordering one size up from your usual European size.
