The adidas Benfica 2020/21 Home Shirt arrived carrying the weight of enormous expectation, and a record investment of €105 million that made it the costliest squad-building exercise in Portuguese football history. The shirt itself is clean and uncompromising: predominantly Benfica Red with matte gold used for the logos and trim, the three stripes placed on the shoulders in black, and a woven crest that speaks to a trophy-laden past. Haris Seferovic was the standout scorer with 26 goals across all competitions, including 22 in the Primeira Liga, while Darwin Núñez, in his debut season after arriving from Almería, netted 14 goals despite limited starts. Benfica finished third in the Primeira Liga, their worst league position since 2008/09, and ended the campaign trophyless for the first time since 2012/13 — a brutal reckoning that makes this shirt a genuine piece of the club's complicated modern history.
