Kappa football shirts traditionally have a slimmer fit. This is especially true for early versions of the brand’s Kombat shirts from the 2000s and 2010s, as well as modern Kombat Pro versions that still feature the marquee stretch element. Kombat shirts, equivalent to Stadium or Replica shirts, are cut more generously, have a regular fit, and do not require sizing up. The Kappa Vasco da Gama 2022/23 Goalkeeper Shirt carries the weight of a mission: returning the Gigante da Colina to the Brasileirão Série A after two years in the second division. Baptised as "Origens Cruzmaltinas", the collection celebrates the 95th anniversary of Estádio São Januário, home and temple of fights and glories of the club. Released alongside a companion black version, this wine-red goalkeeper shirt shares the same jacquard pattern and details as the third shirt, but with a round neck collar, its deep garnet base accented with green and gold. The body carries a reproduction of the famous Portuguese azulejo tiles present inside São Januário, with the inner collar bearing a pattern referencing the Brazil-Portugal union and an internal stamp commemorating the stadium's foundation. Vasco da Gama sealed promotion back to the Série A on 6 November 2022 , and this shirt stood between the posts for every hard-fought clean sheet that made it possible.

was founded in Rio de Janeiro on August 21, 1898, originally as a rowing club. The football department started in 1915. Fans often call the club "Vascão," "O Gigante da Colina" (The Giant of the Hill), or "Cruzmaltino."
