The adidas Real Madrid 2018/19 Home Shirt arrived carrying the weight of an era's end: Cristiano Ronaldo gone, Zinedine Zidane gone, and a squad left to redefine itself in white. The design looked backwards for answers, paying direct tribute to the daringly simple all-white kits of the 1950s, with black adidas stripes and black detailing that consciously echoed the 2002 shirt worn the night of Zidane's famous Champions League Final volley. It was Luka Modrić who gave the season its defining moment, winning the 2018 Ballon d'Or and ending a decade of Messi-Ronaldo dominance, while Karim Benzema shouldered the attacking burden with 30 goals across all competitions. The season's only silverware came in December, when Real Madrid beat Al-Ain 4-1 to become outright record winners of the FIFA Club World Cup with four titles.
